How to perform a large amount of data migration from Magento 1.9 to Magento 2.2
My company currently has an eCommerce site which is using Magento 1.9 and have asked me to Migrate the site over to Magento 2.
Th specific versions are Magento 1.9.3.9 Magento ver. 2.2.7
I am fairly new to Magento (only been using it for approx 6 months) so I really need some advice to keep the site from being down from any length of time.
We currently use a custom theme so I've taken the following steps:
Installed a copy of Magento 2 on a new (Test) site (i.p is similar except for the last three digits)
- magento 1.9 version xxx.xx.xxx.48
- magento 2.2 version xxx.xx.xxx.132
Installed the Magento 2 version of our theme and either the same extensions that the Magento 1.9 site currently uses or some that will do the same job
Created some test products and orders which I have used to test the site. All of these seem to work OK.
The part where I am currently struggling is how to migrate all of the data from the existing 1.9 site to the new Magento 2 site. The data that will need to be migrated is as follows:
- Number of Products: 2000
- Number of Customers: 18000
- Number of Orders: 117000
In addition to this, many customers also have reward points which also need to be migrated.
I've come across a couple of guides as follows:
- https://serverguy.com/magento/migrate-magento-1-magento-2-guide/
But these seem to be all written for back-end developers and run a little over my head.
I get that I have to install the data migration tool and transfer data over that way but I'm not sure is this will do anything like overwrite the test products/customers and obviously I'm concerned that the amount of data is an issue.
If anyone could provide with a layman's guide about how to migrate this data over I would very much appreciate it.
