欽定越史通鑑綱目, lit. "The Imperially Ordered Annotated Text Completely Reflecting the History of Viet") is the official historical text of history of Vietnam commissioned by the emperor Tự Đức, Nguyễn dynasty.[1][2] It is written in Classical Chinese, the writing style is similar to Zizhi Tongjian Gangmu.


Emperor Tự Đức is interested in history. In 1859, he orders to write this book, and appoints Phan Thanh Giản the chief editor. The project is completed in 1859. Tự Đức reads the book, and write annotates in it. After several modifications (1871, 1872, 1876, 1878), the book is finally published in 1884.


Khâm định Việt sử Thông giám cương mục is published in Vietnamese alphabet in 1960. Now it is digitized by National Library of Vietnam.
