Default Order Status on Braintree Payments (2.2.7)

My order status is not being set as expected for Braintree credit card payments on Magento 2.2.7.



I have created a default order status called "Payment Received", as a child of the Processing state. This status is set as default for the processing state.

All other online order types set the status to Payment Reveived (as expected), but Braintree does not, it sets the status to Processing.



This was working as expected prior to a Magento upgrade (previous version was 2.1.9)



Does anybody have some suggestions on how I can get Braintree to set the order status to the default status?
