Lenore Bright has retired as Director, Ruby M. Sisson Memorial Library, Upper San Juan Library District, Pagosa Springs, CO, after 22 years in the position.
Marlu Burkamp has retired as Director of Communications and Marketing, Arapahoe Library District, Littleton, CO, after 20 years of service.
Ellen Boates Clark has been appointed Director, Wilmette Public Library, IL, succeeding Richard Thompson, who retired after 30 years in the position. Clark was Head of Adult Services at Wilmette for 12 years.
Charles Cobine is now Assistant Electronic Reference Services Librarian, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) Libraries. Beth Rowe is Regional Documents Librarian and Head of the Document Section, UNC-CH.
Amy Begg DeGroff is now Head of Information Technology, Howard County Library, Columbia, MD. She was Head of Records Management, Watson Wyatt Worldwide consulting firm, Washington, DC.
Elaine Didier has been appointed Director, Gerald Ford Presidential Library and Museum, Ann Arbor, MI, replacing Dennie Daellenbach, who retired. Didier was Professor and former Dean of Kresge Library, Oakland University, Rochester, MI.
Mary George has been appointed Assistant Director of Library Services, Placer County Library (PCL), CA, after the position had been vacant for three years. She was Children's Services Coordinator and Branch Librarian of Rocklin Library, PCL. George is an LJ 2003 Mover & Shaker.
Jeff Gilderson-Duwe is the new Director, Brown County Library, Green Bay, WI. He was Director, Public Library System, Holdrege, NE. Brown County Library was LJ's Library of the Year 1994.
Dionne Mack-Harvin has been appointed Director of the Central Library, Brooklyn Public Library, NY. She was Acting Director for the past 13 months.
Bill Sees has joined Columbia University Libraries and Information Services, New York, as Head of Circulation & Support Services. He was Access Services Librarian, University of Dayton.
Gwen L. Williams has been appointed Reference Librarian, University of Missouri–Kansas Libraries, Kansas City.
Obituary
Noel Peattie, activist, poet, novelist, small press editor/publisher, and librarian, died on January 13 at the age of 73. Peattie was the first winner, in 1995, of the Alternatives in Publication Task Force Jackie Eubanks Memorial Award, which recognizes "outstanding achievement in promoting the acquisition and use of alternative materials in libraries."
